Faith, Fraternity, and Fun

September 2021
We met during Maddy’s senior year and Sam’s junior year a Fraternity social at their Alma Mater Lenoir-Rhyne University. It was one of the first campus events after the Covid pandemic with lots of new connections. Maddy walked away remembering one name: Sam
Maddy is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha women’s Fraternity and Sam is a member of Theta Xi Fraternity.
April 2022
After many months of getting to know each other, Maddy and Sam made the relationship official on April 15, 2022.
(yep… tax day)
July 2022
…And then Maddy immediately left for 10 months.
During Sam’s junior year, Maddy traveled for ZTA as a Leadership Consultant - hoping across time zones and college campuses while Sam completed the most challenging year of college.
(use making it to our 1 year anniversary during that year of travel!)
May 2023
During that year, the relationship became uniquely strong as the couple remained committed to staying together through a season of distance and increased their own personal faith.
It was a relief when Maddy finished her LC year and came home in May 2023!
May 2024
The next two years have been focused on having fun together and finishing school. In May 2024, Sam graduated from LR with his Bachelors of Arts in Psychology.
Maddy was also baptized into the Presbyterian Church that year, cementing their shared faith.
May 2025
Maddy completed her Master of Public Administration degree at App State this year. This set up the couples presence in Boone, where they will be living.
July 2025
Sam proposed to Maddy at Beacon Heights on July 5, 2025. The hiking trail one of the couple’s favorite on the Blue Ridge Parkway - Sam introduced the spot to Maddy before she left to travel in 2022.
